P2P Financing Malaysia Expands Alongside Digital Banks P2P financing Malaysia is becoming an increasingly important source of capital for small and medium-sized enterprises. At the same time, digital banks are rapidly expanding their lending operations, creating a larger and more competitive digital SME-finance market.
GXBank’s gross loan book reached RM1.21 billion by June 2026 as the bank targets its first full-year profit in 2028. Ryt Bank is also expanding its digital-credit offering through Ryt Credit, which provides eligible customers with access to up to RM100,000 in credit.
Digital Banks Support SME Lending Malaysia’s digital banks are moving beyond payments and savings products into data-driven lending. Their advantages include large customer ecosystems, digital onboarding, automated credit assessments and access to deposit funding.
GXBank is also strengthening its MSME lending through a risk-sharing agreement with the International Finance Corporation. The arrangement supports an eligible loan portfolio of up to US$110 million.
P2P Platforms Expand SME Access P2P financing platforms are helping businesses access working capital, invoice financing and supply-chain financing. In 2025, Malaysian P2P platforms raised RM2.83 billion, compared with RM2.51 billion in 2024. Since the sector began, platforms have raised RM11.32 billion through 154,283 campaigns.
Platforms such as MicroLEAP, CapBay, Alixco and Funding Societies are contributing to this growth by connecting SMEs with investors and offering financing solutions tailored to business cash flows.
A Growing Digital Finance Ecosystem The expansion of digital banks and P2P platforms is positive for Malaysian SMEs. Rather than simply replacing one another, the two models can serve different financing needs.
Digital banks benefit from deposits, payment ecosystems and balance-sheet lending. P2P platforms provide specialised underwriting, investor-funded capital and flexible solutions for businesses that may not qualify for traditional bank financing.
This wider choice can improve access to capital, encourage faster approvals and support more Malaysian SMEs as they expand and digitise. https://gxbank.my/ https://microleapasia.com/ www.alixco.com www.rytbank.my/ https://capbay.com/
